Helping your Child Learn

Parents and carers play a key part in the successful education of their children. We ask that you support the work of the school and ensure that any tasks, practice or projects given for home learning are completed.

As a general guide, little and often tends to work best. Nothing is more important than reading with your child or sharing books with them. Even fluent readers need practice reading aloud with great intonation as well as discussing some more in depth questions and issues around their reading.

Your child may benefit from some extra handwriting practice at home and there will certainly be some maths practice and games they can play to help embed key concepts. The aim for times tables is for children to know them by heart, in any order and at speed by the end of Year 4.

Please refer to the ‘Great websites’ and ‘Year 6 revision’ sections in the Children’s area of the website.
