At Sandcross School, we believe that a healthy, balanced lunch is an important part of every child's school day. We are pleased to work with Chartwells, our school catering provider, to offer nutritious, tasty meals that help children stay energised and ready to learn.

School Meal Prices

From 1 September 2026, school meals cost:

• £2.95 per day

• £14.75 per week (five days)

Children can choose their school meal each morning during registration.

School meals must be paid for in advance or on the day through your child's Arbor account.

Free School Meals

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal under the Government's Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme, regardless of household income.

Year 3 to Year 6

School meals cost £2.95 per day unless your child is eligible for benefits-related Free School Meals.

Some families may qualify for Free School Meals depending on their circumstances. Even if your child already receives a free meal in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, we encourage eligible families to apply, as this can also provide additional funding to support your child's education.

Our Catering Provider – Chartwells

We are delighted to have Chartwells as our school catering provider.

Chartwells specialises in providing nutritious and balanced meals to schools, with a focus on encouraging healthy eating habits and making lunchtime an enjoyable experience for all children.

School lunches offer a variety of meal choices, including vegetarian options, helping children enjoy a varied and balanced diet.

Special Diets and Allergies

We understand the importance of ensuring that children with food allergies, intolerances or specific dietary requirements can enjoy their school meals safely.

If your child has a food allergy, intolerance or requires a special diet for medical or other dietary reasons, please contact the School Office so that the appropriate arrangements can be discussed with Chartwells.

Parents and carers will be asked to complete the relevant special diet request documentation before an appropriate meal provision can be confirmed.

Please ensure the school is informed of any changes to your child's dietary requirements.
