Pupil Parliament

Giving Every Child a Voice

At Sandcross Primary School, we believe that every child deserves to have their voice heard and to play an active role in shaping our school community. Our Pupil Parliament provides children with the opportunity to share their ideas, represent their peers and make a positive difference to school life.

Each term, children have the opportunity to stand for election to Pupil Parliament. Those wishing to take part prepare and deliver a speech to their classmates, explaining why they would make a good representative and how they would like to improve our school. Their peers then vote to elect their representatives, giving children valuable experience of democracy and the importance of making informed choices.

Once elected, our Pupil Parliament representatives meet weekly with Mr Richards, our Headteacher, to discuss ideas, share feedback from their classmates and explore ways to make Sandcross even better.

Pupil Parliament encourages children to develop important life skills, including confidence, communication, teamwork, leadership and responsibility. It also helps our pupils understand that their opinions matter and that they can make a real difference.

Through Pupil Parliament, we bring our school values of Kindness, Resilience, Responsibility and Respect to life, empowering our children to become confident, thoughtful and active members of our school community.

At Sandcross, pupil voice matters – our children don't just attend our school, they help shape its future!
