    Equality Information and Objectives 2026–2030

    Our Commitment to Equality

At Sandcross Primary School and Nursery, we believe that every child should feel valued, respected and included. We are committed to promoting equality, celebrating diversity and ensuring that all children have the opportunity to belong, learn and flourish.

Our approach is underpinned by our school values of Kindness, Resilience, Responsibility and Respect.

We aim to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone is treated fairly, individual differences are celebrated and barriers to learning and participation are identified and addressed.

    Our Public Sector Equality Duty

Under the Equality Act 2010, schools must give due regard to three key responsibilities:

    1. Eliminating Discrimination

We work to eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and promote a safe, supportive and respectful environment for all members of our school community.

    2. Advancing Equality of Opportunity

We are committed to ensuring that all pupils have fair opportunities to participate, achieve and succeed.

We use information about pupil attainment, participation and individual needs to identify potential barriers and consider how these can be addressed.

    3. Fostering Good Relations

We promote positive relationships, mutual respect and understanding between people from different backgrounds.

Through our curriculum, school values and wider school community, we encourage children to appreciate diversity, celebrate differences and treat others with kindness and respect.

    Our Equality Objectives 2026–2030

Our equality objectives have been developed in partnership with Everychild Partnership Trust and focus on three key priorities.

    1. Curriculum Representation and Belonging

Ensure our curriculum reflects diversity, celebrates differences and helps every child feel represented and included.

    2. Equitable Participation and Outcomes

Identify and reduce barriers to learning and participation so that all pupils have fair opportunities to achieve and succeed.

    3. Respectful Relationships and Community Confidence

Promote positive relationships, mutual respect and a school community in which everyone feels welcomed, listened to and valued.

    How We Monitor Equality

We monitor equality through school improvement planning, curriculum reviews, pupil outcomes, participation information and feedback from pupils, parents and staff.

This helps us identify inequalities, evaluate our approaches and consider where further improvements may be needed.

Our equality information is reviewed annually, and our equality objectives are reviewed at least every four years.

School-specific measures and annual progress updates against our 2026–2030 objectives will be published following review and approval.

    Advancing Equality of Opportunity Report

Our Advancing Equality of Opportunity report provides information about our school community, including pupil characteristics, attainment outcomes, strengths and priorities for improvement.

This information helps us identify inequalities and determine where further action or support may be needed.

    Annual Equality Review and Progress

As part of our annual equality review, we consider the steps taken to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations across our school community.

We also review progress against our equality objectives, including how our actions have supported inclusion, participation, pupil outcomes and a positive school environment.
