Reception Admissions (Age 4+)

We offer 60 places for Reception, and parents/carers of Nursery children must re-apply for a spot. Please see details of our Open Days or call our school office to arrange a tour with the Headteacher.

Year 3 Admissions (Age 7+)

We provide 60 additional places for children outside Sandcross Primary. Children already enrolled at Sandcross will automatically secure a place in Year 3. If you're interested in Year 3 or any other year group, admission is possible if there are available spaces.

To initiate the admission process for Nursery, contact our school office directly. For all other year groups, please reach out to Surrey County Council, who manages admissions for our school. You can find more information on admissions here.

In-Year Admissions (Year 1, Year 2, Year 4, Year 5, and Year 6)

We welcome children at any point during the year if there are openings within their desired year group. We encourage you to start by contacting the school to schedule a tour with our Headteacher. This allows us to understand your reasons for transferring and better support your child's transition.

All applications must be made through Surrey County Council at Surrey County Council Admissions.

If you wish to visit our school and meet our dedicated team, please consider attending one of our Open Mornings, where our Headteacher will be delighted to meet you.

For more details about our admission policies and deadlines, please refer to the policies linked below.

Admission Arrangements for Pupils with Disabilities

Sandcross Primary School is committed to inclusivity and ensuring equal access to education for all pupils, including those with disabilities. The school’s admission process adheres to the principles of the Equality Act 2010.

Steps Taken to Prevent Pupils with Disabilities from Being Treated Less Favourably

  1. Staff Training and Awareness:

    • All staff are trained regularly on the needs of pupils with disabilities, emphasising how to provide equitable opportunities for learning and participation.
    • Professional development includes strategies for adapting teaching to meet diverse needs, ensuring that pupils with disabilities can fully engage in lessons and school activities.
  2. Curriculum and Classroom Adaptations:

    • Lessons are differentiated to accommodate various learning needs, using visual aids, hands-on activities, and other tailored resources.
    • Assistive technologies and tools, such as Chromebooks and specialised software, are provided where necessary.
  3. Pastoral Support and Wellbeing:

    • A robust pastoral care system, including weekly care committee meetings, ensures that pupils with disabilities are supported emotionally and socially.
    • Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs) and wellbeing hubs provide tailored support for children with emotional or mental health challenges.
  4. Inclusive Policies:

    • Anti-bullying policies specifically address the protection of vulnerable groups, including pupils with disabilities.
    • Restorative approaches and clear behaviour expectations ensure that pupils with disabilities are included in all aspects of school life.

Facilities to Help Pupils with Disabilities Access the School

  1. Physical Accessibility:

    • The school is built on one level with ramps provided where needed.
    • Accessible toilets are strategically located throughout the school to ensure convenience for pupils with mobility needs.
    • Designated disabled parking spaces are available for families and staff requiring easy access.
  2. Specialised Resources:

    • Facilities such as intervention rooms and sensory-friendly areas are available to support individualised learning and therapy sessions.
    • Adaptations for sensory and physical needs, including sound field systems for hearing impairments and visual aids for pupils with visual impairments, are routinely provided.
  3. Supportive Learning Environments:

    • Classrooms are equipped with visual timetables and structured routines to support pupils with disabilities in navigating their day.
    • Adjustments such as reduced noise levels and flexible seating arrangements ensure an inclusive and comfortable learning environment.
  4. Collaboration with External Agencies:

    • The school works closely with specialists, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and the Surrey Physical and Sensory Support Service, to ensure comprehensive support for pupils with disabilities.

Commitment to an Inclusive Education
